The Maltings situated on the Thames south bank is the only structure on the Stag Brewery redevelopment site which demands special attention. The rooftop at eight storeys high and overlooking the University Boat Race finishing line offers a unique opportunity for housing a destination restaurant. Our proposal incorporates the existing brick attic storey at one end as the reception and bar. A new dining room is added over the main body of the existing building generally fitting within the outer profile of the existing roof. At the far end a large picture window looks out on to a generous terrace which in turn leads to the open view over the Thames. The intention is to use simple forms and natural materials to create an engaging yet relaxing environment.
